Next on Obama's Dance Card, Mother Nature

Rep. Mike Thompson (D-Calif.) might be the next interior secretary. As this shot clearly proves, he's an outdoorsman.

It's not lost on transition officials that Thompson is an avid hunter and angler whose candidacy has been endorsed by sportsmen's associations.

President-elect Barack Obama told Field & Stream magazine in September that he wants a sportsman or sportswoman in the post. "I think that having a head of the Department of Interior who doesn't understand hunting and fishing would be a problem," Obama told the magazine.

  2. Yes, Obama likes his steak and makes another bad choice. Obama decided on Salazar for the appointment to the Interior Secretary. Salazar has been hostile to a wide range of animal protection policies, including efforts to halt the trophy hunting of polar bears and to protect wild horses from slaughter. Salazar was even aligned with former Resources Committee Chairman Richard Pombo in an attempt to weaken the Endangered Species Act.

  3. Dennis Kucinich was my choice a month ago... I have a feeling he'll be who I want this time next year too. We need a vegan party.
