In the USA we have Thanksgiving. We are taught it is a special day to give thanks.
They attached religion, patriotism and tradition to it to give it more meaning.
In reality Thanksgiving is a day a bunch of fat fucking corpse-munchers sit around and feed their corpse-holes until their bloated stomachs can't hold anymore ... while making selfish yummy sounds.
Evil of this sort goes on all over the world.

I laughed so hard at this-reminds me of family Thandsgivings back in the 1950s-before the term Vegan-and I remember some people lying on the floor because they were too full to sit in a chair...gasping...oh those were evil times-Now those people are all gone and I am left-the only vegan born in that family. Vegetables and potatoes and vegan dressing and soy nuggets and vegan cake in this house for Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteand many will celebrate their "independence" by being one-track one-trick comsumer zombies this holiday season.
ReplyDeletegive peace a chance.
go vegan.
I spent Black Friday in a Las Vegas Mall and yes it was one-track one-trick buying anything we could get our hands on. And you should have seen the madhouse-new clothes on the department store floor as people were feverishly working the racks for sales bargains-I told my husband this was the last Black Friday for me I wanted out of there-not easy as the crowds were so thick it was wall to wall-Habits are hard to break Veejayblox...
ReplyDeleteblind consumerism cannot be a good thing. that is all that i was trying to point out.
ReplyDeletebasically everytime i turned around i saw a dead turkey carcass or some poor misbegotten souls oohing and aahhing over the vapid overindulgence of their dead bird feast.
it's like they really don't understand the consequences of thier actions, or that they don't want to, that somehow this synthetic and contrived holiday mess makes it alright to eat the flesh of brutally mistreated and sadistically slaughterered animals.
thanksgiving is no fun for the birds.
such insanity.

I am in agreement with you veejayblox-grocery shopping and viewing the freezer section heaped with turkeys and Christmas pigs-no argument there- But eating is not insanity and there's not a doggone thing you can do about it-But I was just commenting on Black Friday in a Las Vegas mall-and the "feeding frenzy" as it were for the opening salvo for Christmas-I embrace it and go on and enjoy myself anyway-Too much Holier-Than-Thou with the vegan moral philosophy would be my ruin. Not a popular view on an animal advocacy comment board-but I don't mean any harm by it. It would be so easy to hate the whole mess and I just can't do that.
ReplyDeleteOne more thing Dear Veejayblox--may I assume that you were once a meat eater? I was too. Then let us go down memory lane together and recall our misbegotten ways. It helps to soften the judgement we have toward our fellows-We can't push the river...Many blessings to you...
ReplyDeleteRebecca, first off, it isn't the dead animals on display at your local retailer, no it's the mindless rituals that goes with it. Thanksgiving is no fun for the birds.
ReplyDeletei question your need to lay your thick unforgiving consumerist guilt trip upon me. you seem to be taking my rather general purpose remarks way too personal.. this is clearly not my intention.
i agree with Daves comments that thanksgiving is just some contrived and false holiday, another idiotic reason to be a pc brain-on-dead mindless consumer zombie, one with no compassion, no positive outlook and no real world morals.
and if you have to hide your veganism behind a veil of mindless consumerist passion, maybe you need to reset your priorities. i know i have done so many, many times.
that being said i bet it isn't that hard to have fun in Las Vegas.
Veejayblox-I didn't mean to come off as antagonistic toward you.
ReplyDeleteI suppose my comments might have sounded sarcastic but I assure you that was not my intent at all-My apologies for offending you.
I don't know what you mean by laying my "thick unforgiving consumerist guilt trip" on you. And as far as taking your comments personally...I really don't know what's going on here!
Such defensiveness!
Sheesh!
Anway-while I am about this I will comment a little further-Last I heard-even Vegans have to consume-We have to buy clothes to cover ourselves or go to jail... What better way than a Black Friday sales for refreshing the wardrobe at half price-Now I think that was all I was saying dear Man...Pretty light weight stuff...get off your Holier-Than-Thou I am not the enemy! I suppose I am off topic for this board.
Veejayblox-please come to Las Vegas-throw those dour Vegan glooms to the wind and dance the lights fandangle-it ought to do you some good-I am having more trouble with Vegans than I ever had with necrovores-I am naive-I never heard of this movement until last April-I was looking for a recipe for soymilk pudding and found myself on an ALF site- I have learned a lot since...please be patient...
ReplyDeleteBest wishes
oh the manifold hazards of mindless consumerism.
ReplyDeleteRebecca, it seems that we are just going in circles, i find your bland pro-consumer-zombie remarks to be warped and tasteless.
thanksgiving is no fun for the birds.
as for your comparing vegans to necrovores, "even vegans have to consume" and describing veganism as a movement. yep, i'd say on balance you're pretty confused, maybe you need a proper introduction to veganism.
"The fundamental reason to become vegan or vegetarian is respect for the animals."
source : http://www.ivu.org/articles/exhibition/ethics.html
and being vegan is an ethical choice made to reduce suffering whenever possible. based on compassion and morals. to practice compassion and to show mercy for gods animals. it is not a movement nor is it a "convenient" pc lifestyle choice.
practice compassion.
go vegan.
This argumentum tete-a-tete is indeed going nowhere. And it does not serve much purpose on Dave Warwacks forum. You still haven't answered my question about whether or not you were once a meat eater-that's all I was asking-so that perhaps you can understand the people you so glibly refer to as vapid, without morals, unforgiving and so on...I fail to see where you are coming from other than being very agressive and kind of mean. And that makes me put my dukes up. Of course I respect the animals. I am aware that veganism is more than diet. I admit I am not the most nimble intellect and don't enjoy fighting-and don't much like being clobbered. You are like a spider in a web just waiting to pounce...Excuse me why I put up the Christmas tree with the shiny new ornaments I just purchased at Wal Mart- Oh me oh my-fall of the house of usher!I am going to have a cup of coffee and a vegan cookie. And cool my temper. I would be much more open to discussion with you if I didn't sense that undertone of sneer.Best wishes anyway
ReplyDeleteRebecca your obtuse remarks, thoughtless greed, singlemindedness and unfortunate pro-consumerist-zombie remarks are antagonistic, fluffy, inconsistent, insensible and hardly representative of a thoughtful and coherent POV.
ReplyDeletei agree with Dave that thankgiving and other holidays are nothing more than pure evil, with little attached or real meaning.
your consumerist-first "devil may care" world view is shocking, devoid of logic, naive and cruel.
thanksgiving is no fun for the birds.
and many will celebrate their "independence" by being one-track one-trick consumer zombies this holiday season.
